Grove Juice rolls out lightweight resealable pouches
Australian juice brand Grove Juice is making it easier for families to enjoy juice on the go. The company has launched a new range of 140mL chilled juice pouches, featuring a lightweight, resealable design that’s made for lunchboxes, sports days and busy family outings. The new format also uses less packaging material by weight than a traditional plastic bottle. Here’s what you need to know.
What’s New From Grove Juice?
The national rollout introduces four new products in a compact 140mL pouch size. Unlike Grove’s familiar 1.5-litre bottles, which are mostly enjoyed at home and at breakfast, the pouches are designed for drinking anywhere. Grove is targeting occasions like school lunchboxes, sporting activities, picnics and travel, where a small, portable drink makes more sense than a big bottle.
Lightweight and Resealable
The pouch’s biggest selling points are its weight and its resealable cap. According to Grove, the lightweight construction uses less packaging material by weight than a conventional rigid plastic bottle, which also helps with transport and handling.
The resealable design means kids and adults don’t have to finish their juice in one go. They can simply close the cap and save the rest for later. Grove says this could help reduce the juice waste that often comes with other on-the-go formats, such as cartons that can’t be closed once opened.
Is the Pouch Recyclable?
Grove is being upfront about the pouch’s environmental credentials. The pouch is made from a multilayer material that helps contain and protect the juice, but it is not currently considered recycle-ready, as it isn’t suitable for recycling through existing Australian recycling infrastructure. The cap, however, is identified as recycle-ready.
The company says recycle-ready pouch options do exist, and it plans to switch to them once Australian recycling systems develop a practical way to recover this type of packaging. It’s a common challenge for flexible packaging: lightweight, convenient formats don’t always fit neatly into the recycling systems available to consumers today. If you’re unsure how to dispose of the pouch or cap, check your local council’s recycling guidelines.
How Grove Is Making It Happen
To bring the new format to market, Grove has partnered with a specialist third-party co-manufacturer to produce and fill the pouches. This gives the brand access to the equipment and technical expertise needed for the new packaging without building it in-house.
Reaching Younger Families
The pouches are designed to complement Grove’s existing 1.5-litre range and introduce the brand to new customers, especially young families. Grove hopes that once families try the pouches, they’ll also pick up its larger bottles. The launch is backed by national retail and sampling activity, including shopper marketing from November to April and a Little Athletics sampling campaign running from October to March.
