KFC Australia is officially moving beyond chicken. The fast-food giant has launched KWENCH by KFC, a permanent speciality drinks range featuring 11 flavours across four categories, from creamy shakes to fizzy lemonades and boba drinks. The launch is backed by a catchy campaign that recreates a famous Kylie Minogue hit using nothing but the sounds of people sipping. Here’s everything you need to know.

What Is KWENCH by KFC?

KWENCH is KFC’s new drinks sub-brand, designed to give the drinks menu its own identity separate from the chain’s famous food. Unlike a limited-time offer, it’s a permanent addition. KFC says the goal is to become a go-to drinks destination for new customers, while giving long-time fans another reason to visit.

KFC marketing director Holly McCarthy said the chain’s ambition is to make its drinks just as iconic and loved as its chicken, describing the range as proof of KFC’s ongoing reinvention.

The Four KWENCH Categories

The range includes 11 flavours across four categories:

  • Krunch Shakes: Thick, indulgent milkshakes topped with crunchy bits. Flavours include Chocolate, Caramel and an Aussie-favourite Fairy Bread.
  • Boba Refreshers: Fruity drinks with popping boba pearls, including Watermelon and Lychee.
  • Sparkling Lemonades: Bubbly, refreshing lemonades, such as Sparkling Raspberry Lemonade.
  • Frozen Spiders: A nostalgic, retro-style treat that combines fizzy drinks with ice cream.

Some restaurants are also offering Raspberry and Peach Solo Energy drinks and a $7.95 KWENCH snack deal that pairs a drink with a Go Bucket. Flavours and deals may vary by location.

A Kylie-Inspired Launch Campaign

To launch the range, KFC teamed up with creative agency Special on a campaign called “It’s All You Can Drink About”. The hero music video recreates Kylie Minogue’s hit “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” using only the sounds of customers sipping and slurping KWENCH drinks. Music studio Rumble recorded and sampled the real drink sounds to build the track.

The campaign began rolling out nationally on 3 November across TV, cinema, outdoor, social and digital channels, with more activity planned over summer to encourage Aussies to try the drinks.

Why KFC Is Betting on Drinks

KFC’s research found that 70% of consumers say the drinks they choose reflect their identity or mood, and 40% enjoy experimenting with new drinks. Speciality drinks are booming in Australia, and KWENCH puts KFC in direct competition with McDonald’s, which launched its own range of speciality beverages earlier this year.

Is KWENCH the Return of the KFC Krusher?

Not quite. Many fans still miss the KFC Krusher, which was discontinued in Australia around 2018 to 2019. While the Krunch Shakes have a similar thick, crunchy style, KWENCH is a separate range rather than a comeback of the original Krushers. KFC hasn’t announced plans to bring back the Krusher.

From Trial to National Launch

KFC first tested KWENCH in Australia with a trial in Wollongong in March 2025, starting at four restaurants before expanding to more local stores. The trial included lemonades, boba refreshers, Krunch Shakes and iced coffees. KWENCH has also launched in other markets, including the UK and Ireland and Canada.
